Thank you Strathclyde Park Fun Runners!
It may have rained all week on the west coast of Scotland, and the grass may have been a wee bit muddy, but the day was dry for the 650 runners, walkers & joggers who turned out for the annual MND Scotland Fun Run at Strathclyde Park on Sunday 19th May! We were delighted to welcome so many people to the park for this event, which is one of the… read more »
Thank you to all our Glasgow Women’s 10k Runners!
The Bupa Great Women’s 10k is the biggest women-only 10k in the UK – and we were very happy indeed to be there on Sunday 12th May to meet & greet all those who took part in the race in aid of MND Scotland. It wasn’t the driest of days, but the occasional bout of rain wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits of our fundraising superstars, who we welcomed… read more »
Royal MND Reception at The Falkirk Wheel
MND Scotland was honoured to hold a reception at The Falkirk Wheel in the presence of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal on Friday 19th April. The event was a chance to bring together both new and longstanding supporters, and gave us the opportunity to say thank you to some of those who’ve raised money to fight Motor Neurone Disease. Importantly, the event gave us the opportunity to showcase… read more »
Two Teams, Two Mountains, and a Taxi called MaNDy…
The Race is On… The Meter is Running… Since losing his father to Motor Neurone Disease in 2001 Richard Dawson and his family have baked, run, swum, auctioned and walked to raise both funds and awareness. But now Richard a 38-year-old IT consultant from High Wycombe has taken on his biggest challenge yet in an effort to raise £50k for MND Scotland and MNDA. The Big MND Race 2013 is… read more »
Meet the Tweeters!
Here in the fundraising department we’ve been tweeting for nearly 3 years – seems just like yesterday…. Recently our Comms officer and our Head of Campaigns & Policy have joined twitter, so we’re having a bit of a shuffle round… Fundraising will now be available on @MNDSFundraising (www.twitter.com/mndsfundraising) – Sara Thomas (Hello!), Fundraiser (and occasionally Iain McWhirter, Head of Fundraising & Volunteering) Comms will be available on @MNDScotland (www.twitter.com/mndscotland) –… read more »
Glasgow Firewalk – success!
It was cold, it was windy, it had been snowing earlier… but that didn’t stop our Firewalk! 20 brave fundraisers headed down to the Clydeside, at the Hilton Garden hotel underneath the Finnieston Crane, to Do Something Scary to fight MND. We teamed up with some lovely folks from SAMH, The Scottish Cot Death Trust & the Meningitis Research Foundation, and so had around 40 people taking part in total. … read more »
Machu Picchu – Inca Trail final total!
It’s been four months since our group of trekkers returned from Peru, having fundraised and trained hard for the Machu Picchu Challenge. Last Saturday we got (almost everyone) together for a celebratory meal in Glasgow, and to reveal the final total for the event. (Well, we thought it was the final total – turns out that there’s even more money still to be donated – and we haven’t added… read more »
MND Scotland: Official Charity Partner, Antonine Trail Race
We’re delighted to announce that MND Scotland will be the Official Charity Partner for the 2013 Antonine Trail Race, taking place on Sunday 20th October! Now in its 2nd year, the race received excellent feedback in 2012, and we’re excited to be a part of its expansion. Runners bored of pavement-pounding can follow in the way of the Romans on this challenging 13-mile trail route along the Antonine Way around… read more »
We can’t do this without you.
Last week, MND Scotland staff and board members spent a day in organisational development; taking the first few steps on the way to building a new strategy. It’s not a short process, and I’m sure you’ll hear more about it in the months to come. From a Fundraising perspective, it was a powerful reminder of why we’re here. Of the passion which exists within the organisation and which our… read more »
So… about those New Year’s Resolutions…
Happy New Year! Now that the decorations are down; you’re back to work; and the festive season has faded into memory, it’s time to look a bit more seriously at those New Year’s Resolutions. And if you haven’t made any, then maybe now’s the time. Raising money for charity can give you that extra boost you need to achieve your goal – so why not Do Something to Fight MND in… read more »
