Do Something: 2014

We know that when someone close to you is affected by MND, many people just want to Do Something.  We know that many people fundraise for MND Scotland because sometimes it’s the only thing they can do. We know it’s not easy, but that’s why every MND Scotland fundraiser is doing something amazing – fighting Motor Neurone Disease. So, in 2014, we’re asking if you could help to make a real difference and Do… read more »

Thank You Holyrood Park Fun Runners!

Around 200 runners, walkers & joggers joined us for a fun 5k around Holyrood Park on Sunday 13th October – thank you so much to you all!  It may have been a bit windy but it was nothing compared to the weather which forced us to postpone the event a few weeks ago, and we even saw a little bit of sunshine as everyone finished the race. The first runners… read more »

Thank you Great Scottish Runners & Cumbrae Cyclists!

A massive thanks and a huge well done to all our runners in the Great Scottish Run – the junior race, the 10k & the half marathon.  We had the biggest team we’ve ever had for the race this year, with around 40 across the events.  23,000 runners took part in total, with a new course record being set for the half marathon by Haile Gebrselassie – who completed it… read more »

Loch Ness Marathon 2013 – Thank you runners!

We’re just back from a monster weekend in Inverness at the Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running, supporting Team MND Scotland!  It was a great weekend, the weather was kind, and the atmosphere in the event village was wonderful.  We had runners in every event, from the Wee Nessie to the Marathon, and we camped out in the charity village and managed to see nearly everyone… This was the… read more »

One Week To Go! – Loch Ness Marathon Team Update

Following on from our previous blog post about our team for the Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running, we caught up with some more runners to see how their training’s been going.  With just one week left before the race, it’s time for some reflection, and last-minute preparations… We asked our team how their training was going:   Duncan Hillhouse:  Living on Skye, every run involves a reasonable amount… read more »

New Date Announced for Postponed Holyrood Park Fun Run

It was with great regret that we had to announce the postponement of the Holyrood Park Fun Run, originally scheduled to take place on Sunday 15th September 2013.  Sadly, due to the adverse weather conditions forecast for the weekend, we’ve had no option, as it wouldn’t be safe to pitch or strike the marquees.   Fortunately, we’ve been able to confirm a new date – Sunday 13th October!  Same venue,… read more »

Our Zip Sliders made it!

This year we’ve been asking you to Do Something Sporty, Scary or Civilised to fight MND.  Whether that’s been signing up to do the Loch Ness Marathon or the Holyrood Park Fun Run, hold a Cornflowers & Cake party or take part in Zip Slide Across The Clyde… which took place last Saturday. Now, the wind and the rain didn’t make for the best day to be zipping over the… read more »

Bec’s Big Bike Ride – 2500 miles around Britain for MND

A week today, Beccy Roberts will have started the most challenging cycle event we’ve ever come across.  Bec’s Big Bike Ride takes in 2500 miles around Britain in just one month – raising funds for, and awareness of, Motor Neurone Disease.   We caught up with Beccy to ask her a few questions about this mammoth task…   Can you explain briefly what Bec’s Big Bike Ride is all… read more »

“Why are you taking part?” – Loch Ness Marathon Team Update

As one of the lead affiliate charities for the Baxter’s Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running (Sunday 29th September), we’ve got the largest team we’ve ever had for the event.  We think that our runners will raise at least £10,000, but looking at some of their JustGiving pages it’s entirely possible that it’s going to be a lot more. In the first of a series of blog posts between… read more »
