Strathclyde Park Fun Run – Registration Open!
Registration for our annual Strathclyde Park Fun Run (Sunday 20th May) is now open! One of the biggest events in our fundraising calendar, the Fun Run attracts hundreds of people all keen to raise money to fight Motor Neurone Disease. Last year the event raised over £50,000 – and we’d love for you to help us do the same this year. As our regular runners know, there’s a 4 mile… read more »
Tralee Chalet – How your money helps
A couple of weeks ago we talked a little about our new holiday facility for those affected by MND and their families. We’re absolutely delighted to announce that the chalet is now open for bookings – have a look at the video below to see where you’d be staying! MND Scotland board member Ann Kerr said ”The chalet’s in a beautiful situation, and the renovation has been… read more »
Firewalking for MND
On my very first day working at MND Scotland, my new boss asked me if I’d like to take part in a Firewalk, which was taking place just a few days later. Wanting to stay in the job, I said yes. Fortunately I wasn’t the only one taking part, so along with 60 brave and bare-footed fundraisers (including the Fundraising Manager, the Trust Fundraiser, the Volunteer Development Officer, the Welfare… read more »
Featured Fundraiser – Leanne Thorpe – Do Something Special
Our featured Fundraiser today is Leanne Thorpe. Leanne’s been raising money to fight MND for 7 years, during which time she’s raised over £10,000 in memory of her Gran. Do something special. What does that mean to you? To me, it means my pledge to MND Scotland for 2012. I am already planning & hosting an Alternative Race Night & Disco at the King’s Park Hotel on 6th October,… read more »
New holiday facilities at Tralee
Since 2004 we’ve operated the Lang Break caravan near St Andrews (more information here: http://www.mndscotland.org.uk/services/holiday-facilities/lang-break-caravan/) which offers a specially-adapted short break facility for those with MND and their families. Last year our Board of Trustees made the decision to grow this area of our operation, and we purchased a chalet at Tralee Bay Holiday Park near Oban. With the help of the RS Macdonald Charitable Trust, who’ve funded many… read more »
Our Welfare & Benefits Service is expanding
Our Welfare & Benefits service is expanding! We’ve taken on a small number of Welfare & Benefits volunteers as part of a pilot project running in the Glasgow & Lanarkshire area. The W&B service is much in demand these days. We currently have over 120 of clients, and we recently took on an additional officer, Maggie, who you may remember from this blog entry. http://www.mndscotland.org.uk/2011/11/new-welfare-benefits-officer/ With the changes that… read more »
Machu Picchu – An Update
It’s been a while since we talked about our Machu Picchu trip here, so I thought we’d do a little update. We’ve actually got a separate blog going for the trek here: http://machupicchu2012.wordpress.com, and that’ll get going a bit more over the next few weeks. So far we’ve got nearly enough people for the trek – we really could do with a couple more though so we’re going… read more »
Take The Plunge in MND Awareness Week!
Happy January everyone, hope you’re all well and enjoying the first month of the year. One of the many New Year’s Resolutions that people have made as part of our New Year’s Resolutions campaign – asking you lovely folk to sign up to Do Something Special in 2012 http://www.mndscotland.org.uk/fundraising/new-year/ – is the pledge to take part in our Take The Plunge series of events during MND Awareness Week this year.… read more »
Beating the January Blues… #DoSomethingSpecial
Have to say that we’re not entirely convinced by this whole Blue Monday lark. It might be half way through January already, it might be cold & frosty outside, but there’s a wonderful warm glow coming from our supporters… Ok ok, that was a bit cheesy. But it’s true! Every day more and more people sign up to #DoSomethingSpecial in 2012 to raise vital funds in the fight against… read more »
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
From everyone here in the Fundraising Department, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hope you had a great festive season, and that the return to the day-to-day hasn’t been too terrible. We’ve been getting back into the swing of things here – and we’ve also been looking through the New Year’s Resolutions that have been made so far! We’ll be in touch with everyone very soon – but in the meantime,… read more »
