Manifestos for People Affected by MND

We have published two manifestos for 2017; one for the upcoming General Elections and one for the recent Local Scottish Council Elections.

General Election 2017

In response to this year’s snap general election, MND Scotland has produced a Manifesto for People Affected by MND, informed by the experience of those living with the illness.

It highlights issues reserved to Westminster, and calls for parties and candidates to commit to:

  • Doubling MND research funding to help find a cure
  • Effectively fast tracking welfare benefits for people affected by MND

We have sent the manifesto to the main party HQs for consideration in their own manifesto development but we need your help.

How you can help

  1. Email your local candidates asking them to support our manifesto in just a few quick and easy steps
  2. Talk to your local candidate, on street stalls, at hustings, if you are canvassed. Make sure they know what is important to you and your family and how supporting this manifesto and putting it into action could make your life better if they are elected.
  3. Use social media to share our campaign. You could tweet your local candidates and ask them to support our #MNDManifesto17.
  4. Get your friends and family involved too - ask them to contact their candidates and share our manifesto.

Local Scottish Council Elections Manifesto

The local Scottish Council elections took place on 4th May 2017. We produced a Council Elections manifesto for these elections too and asked candidates to support it. Of those we were able to contact, almost 100 pledged their support. Over the next few weeks, we will be getting in touch with those elected to ensure they know how to support constituents affected by MND.
