MND Scotland funds a Care Team which serves the whole of Scotland. They are based in four hospitals at Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, and Aberdeen. These professionals, who are specially trained to work with people with MND and their families, visit newly diagnosed patients to offer support and to assess their needs. As trained clinical specialists, Care Team members liaise with health and social care professionals to ensure the best possible care for each individual. These professionals can include Occupational Therapists, Nutritionists, and Speech Therapists.
If you have been recently diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease you can choose to recieve support from a member of MND Scotland’s Care Team. Your neurologist should refer you on to the care team who will then contact you, however there can be delays in this process. If you wish to speak to a member of the care team call 0141 945 1077.
Our Information Collection – Create Your Own Collection
MND Scotland has prepared a range of factsheets to be used in a newly created Information Pack for people affected by MND and those who look after them. Our Care Team can provide clients with a pack containing basic information to explain more about MND and issues which may affect them. The pack empowers clients by offering a full index of 46 factsheets to be requested from their care team specialist as and when they wish more information. These factsheets cover all aspects of the disease from diagnosis onwards and include topics which are often difficult to discuss. You may not feel ready to face certain issue yet, but the factsheets are there when you are ready. Factsheets are also available in a downloadable format.
