Officially opened by our Royal Patron, The Princess Royal, on 15th March 2010 the MND Scotland Patient and Carer Centre houses three of the direct services offered by MND Scotland; our Information Service, Benefits and Welfare Service; and Counselling Service. The Centre also provides facilities which can be used to provide ongoing support and education for patients, carers and health and social care professionals. The Centre is located at our headquarters at 76 Firhill Road, Glasgow.

Within the Centre, the following services are available:

Get in touch with us

As the staff responsible for the information, counselling and welfare services are not always immediately available to callers, due to out of office appointments or part-time posts, it is often necessary to arrange an appointment if you wish to speak with these members of staff.

In addition to the above services the facilities are used for events such as family information evenings, demonstrations of ways to prepare food for people with swallowing difficulties and for induction and training days for staff and the volunteers who provide services such as our complementary therapies or counselling.

The centre is fully wheelchair accessible from the disabled parking bays at the rear of the building.

A kitchen area is also provided where drop-in visitors can relax informally with a cup of tea or coffee or a mug of hot soup.

Drop-in Sessions

The Patient and Carer Centre is intended primarily for the benefit of patients and carers, who are welcome to drop in on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons to “have a cuppa and a natter” with staff and anyone else who happen to be about.

No appointment is necessary for these sessions. Just turn up and enjoy the company.
