We're taking off for Nepal on our first ever fundraising challenge in the Himalayas – one of the world’s highest mountain ranges – and we'd love for you to join us!
This breath-taking charity challenge will give you the opportunity to test your limits, while raising money to support MND Scotland’s vital services and to power ground-breaking MND research.
This challenge will take place 17th - 26th September 2021 and has been designed by Global Adventure Challenges who have described the trek as “challenging”. MND Scotland will facilitate the trek.
You’ll be joined by around 30 other MND Scotland fundraisers, giving you a chance to support each other along the way, and make new friendships. Together, you’ll be looked after by an MND Scotland staff member, two reps from Global Adventure Challenges, and a local doctor.
The 10-day experience will consist of 6 walking days, where you'll discover charming Nepalese villages in the country’s mountainous Annapurna region.
You’ll traverse spectacular landscapes and bask in the rich culture of the Nepalese mountain people, from terraced rice paddies to remote tea houses, as Sherpa’s guide you through the vast region.
Across your six trekking days, you’ll experience sub-tropical riversides, you’ll pass through beautiful oak and rhododendron forests echoing with the sounds of chirping birds and tumbling waterfalls, and by nightfall you’ll make your way to the peak of Poon Hill for a stunning sunrise.
Poon Hill, a hill station approximately 270k (167 miles) west of of Kathmandu, is the pinnacle of this trek. The summit provides sweeping, uninterrupted views of Annapurna Massif – one of the world's highest mountains.
After the trek, you will return to Kathmandu where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the valley or immerse yourself in the capital’s charming bazaars, before flying home.
We ask that each participant raise a minimum of £3,975 at least 8 weeks before we depart for Nepal in September 2021.
Our fundraising team will be on hand to support you with ideas, encouragement, and fundraising materials to help you reach your goal.
