Salary: Voluntary, expenses paid
Status: 5 meetings per year, with 3 or more committee meetings as appropriate

MND Scotland is governed by a Board of Trustees whose role is to ensure that the resources of the charity are used effectively and in the best interests of those affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

The Board is responsible for setting our strategic direction and making sure the organisation meets its objectives. This is an exciting time to join our Board and we can accept applications from anyone with an interest in MND.

We would particularly welcome people who have skills in any of the following areas:

  • Digital Innovation & Services
  • Finance and Accounts
  • Fundraising and Income Generation
  • Human Resources
  • Legal

Organisation

MND Scotland is the leading Scottish charity providing care and support to people affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND), as well as funding research into finding a cure.

About MND

MND is a rapidly progressing terminal neurological illness, which stops signals from the brain reaching the muscles. This causes muscle weakness and wasting.

  • Symptoms may include losing the ability to walk, talk, eat, drink or breathe unaided.
  • Average life expectancy is just 20 months after diagnosis.
  • There are over 400 people in Scotland currently living with MND.
  • On average over 200 new cases of MND are diagnosed each year.
