Chivas Brothers’ huge cash boost for MND Scotland

Leading Scotch whisky company, Chivas Brothers, has donated a massive £26,000 to MND Scotland in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The company is behind some of the world’s finest Scotch whisky brands, including Chivas Regal; Ballantine’s; The Glenlivet and Royal Salute.

Chivas Brothers announced in January that they had selected MND Scotland as their Charity of the Year following a staff vote. The company set a target of raising £50,000 for the charity over the course of the year, raising £24,000 in the first three months.

Now, due to the Coronavirus pandemic’s effect on fundraising efforts, the company has donated an additional £26,000 to reach their £50,000 target early.

Fundraising efforts will resume when possible this year, and Chivas Brothers has also announced that they are also extending their support for MND Scotland throughout 2021.

Jean-Christophe Coutures, Chairman and CEO at Chivas Brothers, said: “With our planned business and employee fundraising efforts now on hold due to COVID-19, Chivas Brothers is making a lump-sum donation of £26,000 to bolster the £24,000 raised to date, and to ensure MND Scotland has access to funding at a time when they need it most.”

Morag McGown, Corporate Partnerships Manager at MND Scotland, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this incredible boost from our partners at Chivas Brothers – and to extend our partnership throughout 2021.

“Over the last few months, we’ve gotten to know the team at Chivas Brothers and their commitment to supporting people affected by motor neurone disease across Scotland. In March, we were honoured to welcome Chivas Brothers as our Gold Sponsor at our annual MND Scotland Cornflower Ball – which raised a record-breaking £90,280.

“Every penny raised by Chivas Brothers colleagues, and generously donated by the company directly, is helping us support people affected by MND across Scotland, and power cutting-edge research to bring us a step closer to a cure.

“I’m looking forward to continuing our partnership with Chivas Brothers through 2020 and 2021.

“Together, we’ll beat MND.”
